...and the greatest of these is love.
…and the greatest of these is love.
God is patiently waiting for us to turn to Him and welcomes us into His lap of comfort with wide open arms. No matter where we have walked, what we suffer, where we are afflicted, He waits patiently to lavish His love upon us! Nothing is too hard for Him and through Him we can do all things.
Jesus, our perfect model of love, came to die for our forgiveness and so we might live. He exhibited for us an amazing life submitted to God in all the days He walked on earth as man. Let us look to Jesus, the Holy King of Israel, to learn how to love one another from the depths of our hearts and souls. Never, does Jesus abandon, never does He withhold, never does He punish, never does He condemn, never are we alone.
He is our protector, our provider and our guide. In these amazing three words, we see how to care for one another in our family and the family of God. Jesus put others needs before His own. His heart was one of a servant. Not a heart that took from others, but a heart of compassion, kindness, gentleness, generosity and love. A heart that invited others into life with Him, to follow Him all the days of life. We are His children, the children He died for and who received the invitation to live. Are we willing to die to our self for our children, to protect them at all costs, to provide when in need and to guide them in the ways of the Lord? If we are not confident we are loving others well, we must ask our Heavenly Father where we are short, and invite Him to change our heart.  I pray God will give us eyes to see and ears to hear to receive the message He has for each of us through these words. It is through the power of the Holy Spirit we will hear the whisper. Listen to what the Lord has to say and act. This is what God is calling us to do, no matter how uncomfortable, no matter what we lose, no matter how crazy it might seem, He is calling us to love one another as Christ has loved us. If people do not see us love one another in this way, how can we, who call ourselves Christians, bring glory to God?
“Lo, I am with you always. I will never forsake or abandon you. I love you with an everlasting love and I have chosen you to be mine. I know the plans I have for you. Come to me as you are, place your trust in Me alone. Talk to Me about your hopes and dreams. Believe the promises I have given through the life, death and resurrection of my precious Son. Your faith should not rest on the wisdom of man, but on Me, the All-mighty, All-powerful and All-knowing One true God. I am patiently waiting for you. Here I am, I stand and knock at your door. Do you hear me? Open the door that I might enter in and dwell in your midst. Turn from the ways that oppose Me. Behold, I am making all things new. I will tear out the bitter root and bind up your broken heart, make you whole, and restore you to all I created you to be from the beginning. For it is by My hand that you were knit together, formed and shaped. All things you have experienced passed through the filter of my Hand first. Like an olive, you will be shaken, squeezed and pressed. For the oil of an olive cannot have its full flavor until it has been through this process. Trust in Me. Know that I am with you where ever you set your feet. I give you My peace and leave you with My rest. Diligently seek My Kingdom first and I will add all other things to you. Love me with all your heart, mind soul and strength. I promise, You will find Me and My Love. He who believes what the Lord has said will receive.”
It is so wonderful that we have a God who loves us in spite of ourselves. As human beings we are much less than perfect and promised trouble. What we can keep our eyes upon is the greater promise, the promise that we gain victory in Christ Jesus. I believe we can love like Jesus loves while still on this side of heaven. Through His strength we can do all things. It is in His power, His strength and through receiving His love that we learn, grow and love.
