The Gift of Life! Oh How He Loves Us!

When I think about Jesus Christ coming to this earth, I am continuously reminded how special each one of us is to Him.  Jesus came to earth and died on the cross for us, to give us freedom – LIFE. He did it for one reason, because He loves us! Thank you Jesus! You are unchanging in Love, Truth and Faithfulness for yesterday, today and tomorrow!

I stay in awe that Jesus chose us to die for. I mean, we are people who are running around usually seeking our own pleasure, while sometimes hurting others in the process. But even in our self-way of thinking, Jesus came and died for YOU and ME! That is beautiful love! A love so strong that He laid down His own life and willingly went to the cross. He did not run away or try to escape from the hand of those who would kill him. He willingly went to the cross knowing He would die.

After Jesus died, with the weight of the world upon his shoulders, He was resurrected and ascended into heaven to reign at the throne! He is the High Priest, the One and Only True God who loves us! All come to the Father through Him!

Thank you Jesus for your jealous love of us! The gift of life~only by Jesus Christ!

“For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Peter and then to the Twelve. After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep.” 1 Corinthians 15:3-8

Keep Your Eye on the Ball

I stood outside the gated area watching a team of precious little six-year-olds making some of their first attempts at batting a ball being pitched to them. They were so cute in their uniforms. They had all the appeal of one who knew exactly what they were doing being dressed to the nines in the black socks, white pants, jerseys with their names, batting helmets and a bat fitted perfectly to their small grasp.

When the coach would pitch the ball he would give gentle instructions to each team member who was “up” for his turn to practice some pre-game batting. I watched each one as they would concentrate to make contact happen between with their bat and the oncoming ball.  Each time the coach pitched and the ball would come toward them, they would swing either too soon or too late.

After a couple of strikes, the coach would slowly approach the child, get down on his level and tell the little boy what a great job he was doing. He would also say to him, “Keep your eye on the ball. If you do this one thing, you will hit it.” He would then gently pat him on the shoulder while giving him a smile and a last word of, “Okay, let’s make this happen.” As the coach would resume the pitcher’s plate, the little boy would move into the right stance and begin rocking his weight from one leg to the other, just as if he were a professional league player. It was precious to me, especially because one of the little boys I was watching is Noah, my first grandson.

The third time up to bat, Noah did not take his eyes off the ball. No matter what distractions were around him, he stayed focused. More than four times in a row, he hit the ball beyond his coaches reach!! His coach acknowledged his success by cheering him on and giving him a high-five. Noah was proud of what he had accomplished! You could see the esteem and confidence beaming from his face!

Having a coach like this in the world of little league baseball is rare. I am thankful my grandson has a coach like him, who will encourage and build up my grandson and other little children. I am also grateful that he is setting an example of what mentoring and teaching others looks like. Hopefully, my grandson will grow up with some of those same qualities his coach is teaching him at a young and impressionable age.

As adults, without a team to cheer us on in our endeavors, we can begin to feel defeated. If we are aware of the need to surround ourselves with positive people, we have a greater advantage for success. No longer children and without our parents making sure we stay on track, it is our responsibility to take the necessary steps to make sure we have our own cheerleaders helping us to keep our eye on the ball and accomplishing our goals.

The Tangerine

I had been working in the yard for a few hours and decided to take a break and have a tangerine.  I love a cold tangerine!  I plopped down into a comfy chair on the deck, put my feet up and preceded to to peel the tangerine.  I started at the bottom and peeled and peeled and peeled.  It takes time as you know.  As I was peeling I thought about us – us being me, you, people.  I thought about how once we accept Christ He works on us kind of like I am working on this tangerine.  He starts with the first layer, the hardest layer.  Maybe the layer is anger, abuse, alcoholism, drug addiction, unworthiness, fear, sexual addiction – well there are many  more examples but you understand what I am saying.  Anyway, it takes time and sometimes the pieces don’t want to come off but he continues to work on us, never leaving, caring and loving.  Finally the hard shell is gone but what is that? A softer covering that has to be peeled away and just to tease us we see the wonderful fruit peeking through here and there!  So what is all of this?  I thought I was doing so well!  Is it gossip, white lies, taking something that isn’t mine?  I pray for God to help me and He does, He continues to peel and peel and peel.  He loves me and shows me that as He tenderly works on me.  Suddenly there it is!  The fruit, beautiful, colorful, a gift.  But what is this – tiny little pieces that didn’t come off.  Its ok though because I know God will take care of that too!  So that’s what I thought about while I was sitting on the deck having a tangerine!

One Heart. One Mind. One Love.

What do you think of when you think of One heart, One mind, and One love?  It makes me think of how much we have in common as human beings and don’t even realize it. I believe we all are running after the same thing more than anything.  What is it we want more than anything? What is it we chase after in life? What is it that is going to bring us contentment and peace above all else?

From my perspective, it is love. Like you, I want a love that comes from a place of sincerity and truth. I want love from a heart that accepts me. I want it from a heart that honors me. I want love from one who knows the True love. (more…)

The Paintbrush

Have you ever considered that you are a paintbrush on a canvas that is larger than life itself? Have you ever wondered about how you can bring change into people’s lives? Have you ever wondered what your purpose is here? These are a few of the many questions that may run through our hearts and minds, as we go through each day. But, what if you saw a place where God brought change?  What if you viewed life from a totally different perspective, believing you could be a catalyst for change? What if instead of sitting in your room (job, marriage or friendships), and  feeling sorry for yourself  you funneled that energy into expressions of love, through doing something creative? Did you know that many people feel like they have no purpose in their lives? In all my years, I can truthfully say I have never met anyone that did not feel that way at one time or another in their journey. When you feel this way, you are not alone! If we can begin to recognize those kinds of thoughts are creeping into our mind and understand they intended to hold us back from our purpose, we have won more than half the battle!  When I have felt this way, I turned my heart to the greatest artist, our Creator, and asked for His guidance. Incredibly, He always answers and as I trust Him, He leads.

The painting you see above is a creation by my amazing and talented sister. She has always been creative, but never realized how special and valuable her creations were. I am thankful that she has realized her true worth and value and as a result, is allowing her personal paintbrush to create, and bring glory to God!  She is an amazing woman of great strength, character, beauty and love. She is incredibly creative, using talents from deep inside of her heart.  To hear her tell it, she was just messing around and having fun. I think that is what living is all about, messing around, being creative and having fun while we do it!

I hope that the beauty of her art brings joy and blessing in your life-like it has to mine. Oh by the way, me sharing this message with you is just me messing around!  I get great joy from sharing how creativity and freedom arrives through discovering your true identity and when others realize they are a paintbrush in the hand of the Almighty Creator!
