It wasn’t how I wanted to spend my day. You’ve been there. The inopportune hours spent at the auto repair shop. There were three recalls on my car. After making a few attempts over a year’s time to have them repaired, the parts were finally in, and the repairs could happen in two hours.
In the past month, I have been asked by three men to coach them through a difficult time. I have coached only a few men in the past, but I opened the door to the chance to walk beside them to help move forward. I’m glad I did. (more…)

This post is an edited excerpt from my book, Desperate for Love. There are times when people reach out to help us through genuine love. And, because we don’t recognize that kind of love, we resist. We do have the choice to reach back or keep walking our way.
To flourish in relationships whether it is family, career or community, we have first to understand and love ourselves. We pour thousands and thousands of hours and financial resources into becoming better skilled and talented in our careers, but we don’t prioritize spending the time to learn ways to improve and thrive in our relationships.
